Mamrika!

LiberTEAS and Co.’s mission is to center our BIPOC community by decolonizing how we nuture ourselves and to give back to our community members who are currently incarcerated.

Founded by the descendant of enslaved Native people across the diaspora, a staunch abolitionist and lesbian; Soleil Ruiz (she/her/hers) is embracing her Indigenous roots and resides on the land of Rananchqua (which has been colonized to be known as The Bronx). She practices her Amazigh and Taino roots daily through food, music, and herbalism. She honors her ancestors by connecting with the land, people, and plants through her indigenity.

LiberTEAS and Co. offer herbal teas and sweet treats. All ingredients used are selected with the highest quality in mind with some directly foraged from around the borough! Our desserts use zero refined sugars; are sweetened with fruits, and natural sweeteners like maple syrup, and are gluten-free. This vision is inspired by Soleil’s personal health journey, as she navigates medical issues and wants to heal not only herself but her community too. Within this healing, Soleil wants to especially hold space and recognize those members of her community who have been denied liberty and are experiencing incarceration, so 10% of all proceeds will go to The Commissary Fund so they too know that their community cares about them no matter what and nobody deserves to be alone (www.thecommissaryfund.org). Para Todos.
